While Tim and I had our days off Simon and Bentley worked super hard on getting the steps and the banks and fencing all done in front of our family size pods, the lupins are looking so big and bushy and these steps look so much better.
Also Bentley has painted all 3 of these pods inside and out, she’s an absolute machine!
I’m just more impressed that they remembered to take before and after pictures!! 😉😂
Tim and I generally have a Monday and Tuesday off work, which gives us a chance to relax and explore, whether that be walks on the beach with the dogs, or the thing we both love doing which is getting on our bikes, yesterday we cycled to Croyde, today we cycled to Lee, best bit is cycling down to Woolacombe, this hill is so much fun, admittedly I don’t get as fast as Tim but I don’t go slow either in my head I’m literally going weeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!
Did you know we also have glamping pods on site, this is one of our family size pods that sleeps up to 4 people, the single bed pulls out into a king size and this one Dahlia, we also allow dogs in, we have 3 family size pods, and 4 pods that sleeps 2 (2 of these are dog friendly)and we also have a pod with 2 single beds for you and your bestie.
They all have fridges, heating, tea and coffee making facilities, fire pits, outdoor seating and the most beautiful views.
I’ve realised that I haven’t shown how we turned the old dingy block into its beautiful fresh beachy look.
We’re so proud of what we have achieved in here, the old gal really need updating, we had annoying taps, crumbly panels horrible red doors, now it’s bigger shower cubicles, plants, even disco balls and disco ducks!
We love an impromptu camping trip, load up the van and off you go, with the weather finally perking up I think this weekend is the perfect opportunity for a campcident!
@ajskitchen_woolacombe is cooking tonight, I’ve got my eyes on the loaded fries with falafel all though the comfort of a jacket potato on a day like today is also very tempting.
You don’t have to be staying on site to enjoy AJ’s delicious food, everyone’s welcome and where else in Wooly can you get a jacket potato??
Once again the weathers not looking great for this weekend, but if you’re looking for a hassle free weekend away with heating and a proper bed we have availability in our pods and our static caravan.
So as you know we opened the week before Easter to iron out any of those niggly issues, that weekend went off without a hitch really, just an issue with the milk machine, but this weekend, our first busy weekend of the year, all hell broke loose.
It started with a window falling out of one of our pods, thankfully an easy fix, hammer nails and Tim fixed it, then there was an issue with the boiler on our static caravan, thankfully another easy fix, but then the biggest issue we have experienced in 32 years of owning this site happened on Good Friday, no electricity throughout the site apart from the shop!!
The electric went out about 3pm and after a frantic call to our electrician who said he’d come out, what a life saver, he located the issue and by about 10.30pm we managed to get the majority of the electric back on, unfortunately they’re were a handful who didn’t have power. I’m not going to lie the stress and anxiety was awful, I cried, none of us slept that night and we were up at the crack with our electrician who came back on the Saturday to get everyone back on power, which he did.
I can not tell you how grateful I am to our electrician he is truly a life saver, but I’m also so grateful to our wardens Simon and Bentley for dealing with the situation so well they just cracked on with everything that needed doing and we all brainstormed together to resolve this situation.
I know I put a sign out to apologise to our campers on Saturday but I want to say again we are so so sorry for this happening, we are so grateful for your patience and understanding and thank you for supporting us this weekend and hopefully again in the future.
I wanted to post this, so that you guys can see really want goes on in our business, it’s not all highs, sometimes there are lows and really really devastating lows, lows where I want to give it all up, like this weekend, but I never would I love this little business and love seeing all you guys.
Tim and I are off now for a couple of days for a much needed rest!!! And to eat lots of chocolate!!!
I hope you got more Easter eggs than me, I’m still waiting for the Easter bunny but apparently I’m too old for Easter eggs!!!
Oh and don’t ask us how our Easter weekend is going because it will all be explained tomorrow where I give a true honest post about running a campsite ands the trails and tribulations that may happen 🤦♀️
So you’ve seen the new shop, but we’ve got another exciting project to reveal, the refurbishment of the original toilet block. We will fully admit, this was long overdue.
This project was started back in September when all four of us worked together, to make this area the best we possibly could, we put new panels in the ladies showers and made them about a foot longer, one is even bigger and has a lovely little seat in it, both the men’s and ladies have more hooks and towel rails in each shower and as you can see we have painted, and decorated the existing panels, so happy to say goodbye to the red doors in the men’s showers! We also added new worktops and new taps.
Hope you love them and enjoy our humour! Oh and the disco ducks, absolutely love them!!!
