I’m not going to sugar coat it, this year has been shitty shitty shitty, it started off in the worst way imaginable suddenly losing my mum in January and then me being diagnosed with breast cancer in April, however the love and support that has been shown from all of our campers has been incredible, you guys are just amazing, the kind words, the hugs, the flowers we never expected to receive any of this and it just goes to show the friendships that we make with our campers,we appreciate you all so so much.
We want to say a massive thank you to our incredible wardens Bentley and Simon, they joined us this year and were throughly thrown into the deep end and just took it in their stride, and good news is that it didn’t put them off and they will be back with us next year!!
We are now going to take some well earned rest, we will try and get a holiday with the kids, dads planning a road trip in his motor home around Scotland in November 🥶 then in the new year we will start getting the site ready for 2025.
Thank you again for all the support and we look forward to seeing you all in 2025.
October is here which means we are starting to wind down for the season (we close on the 6th October) and that also means more time for those beautiful walks that we are surrounded by, this bench is my favourite spot, because if you walk up from the beach (closer to Puttsborough end) you know it’s there to sit and take a breather, it’s a steep climb walking to here!! But that view, surely this has to be the best view of Puttsborough/Woolacombe.
Sundays are all about roast dinners and family time.
Yesterday we popped up to @depot_eatery for a Sunday lunch, and I’ve gotta say you definitely get your monies worth, 1/2 a roast chicken I’m proteined right up!!!!
Oh and mine was completely gluten free, the only things I didn’t have that everyone else did have was a yorkie pudding and creamy cheese leeks.
If you’ve wondered just how big our electric pitches are then this should help, this beautiful rig was parked up with us a couple of days ago, and well she’s not small!
As you can see to the left there is a huge amount of space you could fit a whole other one of these there, that’s how big our electric pitches they are about 30 foot. Some are bigger and some also have their own separate parking space for a car.
You can choose your own pitch when you book the description and size for each pitch is on our website.
Oh and if this can get to us then you know it’s an accessible road!!! Don’t be telling me the road to us is hairy when you’re driving a T5!!! (As long as you take the right road!) oh and on that note the main road from Braunton to Ilfracombe is shut, for ages, it’s causing chaos so follow the tourist signs from the A361!!!
And I celebrated in the chemo ward!!! I took in my martini glasses, we had non alcoholic cocktails and party food, I even made myself a party hat!!
When you go through something as tough as this and chemo is tough, everyone deals with it differently and no one has symptoms the same. You have to celebrate it, it shouldn’t go by as a ‘Well that’s done’ now it’s time for me to get fit and ready for my operation, my journey isn’t over yet but the worst bit is over.
If you are going through any cancer treatment or have been recently diagnosed, stay strong, positive and I wish you all the love. If you have a friend or family going through cancer treatment, be supportive, push for the truth, we’re all very good at hiding our true feelings, but don’t keep asking, how are you?! It’s so annoying, change the wording, to let’s go for a walk and chat, do you need anything. Talk about your life, it’s not selfish it takes our minds off of what we are going through!...
Are you refusing to believe that summer is over and still searching for that last minute break by the sea?
Throughout September we are offering 20% off of all Glamping and camping. This offer is only available for September 2024 bookings. Use code 20OFF to get your 20% off.
Now it’s quieter we can get out and about and enjoy some of the local food before they close for the winter.
Yesterday we headed to @gobblebox_woolacombe for our dinner, yummy crab bap (gluten free) for me and Tim had one of their stacked beef burgers, sharing some of their cheesy torched fries, I use the word share lightly, think I ate the majority!!!
We took it up to Marine Drive and sat in the back of the truck watching the tide come in and people making the most of the last day of the summer holidays.
Now bank holidays over, that was a complete wash out! I thought I’d better remind you, you have just over 5 weeks left to get your camping fix with us!
We are closing on the 5th October, there’s a couple of factors for this, the main one being, as many of you know for us it’s been a tough tough year, actually opening the site took a lot and was filled with sadness after the sudden loss of mum in January, alongside this I was diagnosed with breast cancer so have been dealing with chemotherapy on top of work, which to be fair has taken my mind off of everything, but my surgery is planned for the 14th October so we want some family time before that and I want to be able to relax and not worry about work after surgery.
Also it’s been such a rubbish year weather wise and we just don’t see it being viable to keep the fields open, know one wants to camp in the rain!
So we will be closing our gates on the 5th October and reopening on the 16th April 2025 ready to welcome the Easter Bunny!!!
