@ajskitchen_woolacombe is cooking tonight, I’ve got my eyes on the loaded fries with falafel all though the comfort of a jacket potato on a day like today is also very tempting.
You don’t have to be staying on site to enjoy AJ’s delicious food, everyone’s welcome and where else in Wooly can you get a jacket potato??
Once again the weathers not looking great for this weekend, but if you’re looking for a hassle free weekend away with heating and a proper bed we have availability in our pods and our static caravan.
So as you know we opened the week before Easter to iron out any of those niggly issues, that weekend went off without a hitch really, just an issue with the milk machine, but this weekend, our first busy weekend of the year, all hell broke loose.
It started with a window falling out of one of our pods, thankfully an easy fix, hammer nails and Tim fixed it, then there was an issue with the boiler on our static caravan, thankfully another easy fix, but then the biggest issue we have experienced in 32 years of owning this site happened on Good Friday, no electricity throughout the site apart from the shop!!
The electric went out about 3pm and after a frantic call to our electrician who said he’d come out, what a life saver, he located the issue and by about 10.30pm we managed to get the majority of the electric back on, unfortunately they’re were a handful who didn’t have power. I’m not going to lie the stress and anxiety was awful, I cried, none of us slept that night and we were up at the crack with our electrician who came back on the Saturday to get everyone back on power, which he did.
I can not tell you how grateful I am to our electrician he is truly a life saver, but I’m also so grateful to our wardens Simon and Bentley for dealing with the situation so well they just cracked on with everything that needed doing and we all brainstormed together to resolve this situation.
I know I put a sign out to apologise to our campers on Saturday but I want to say again we are so so sorry for this happening, we are so grateful for your patience and understanding and thank you for supporting us this weekend and hopefully again in the future.
I wanted to post this, so that you guys can see really want goes on in our business, it’s not all highs, sometimes there are lows and really really devastating lows, lows where I want to give it all up, like this weekend, but I never would I love this little business and love seeing all you guys.
Tim and I are off now for a couple of days for a much needed rest!!! And to eat lots of chocolate!!!
I hope you got more Easter eggs than me, I’m still waiting for the Easter bunny but apparently I’m too old for Easter eggs!!!
Oh and don’t ask us how our Easter weekend is going because it will all be explained tomorrow where I give a true honest post about running a campsite ands the trails and tribulations that may happen 🤦♀️
So you’ve seen the new shop, but we’ve got another exciting project to reveal, the refurbishment of the original toilet block. We will fully admit, this was long overdue.
This project was started back in September when all four of us worked together, to make this area the best we possibly could, we put new panels in the ladies showers and made them about a foot longer, one is even bigger and has a lovely little seat in it, both the men’s and ladies have more hooks and towel rails in each shower and as you can see we have painted, and decorated the existing panels, so happy to say goodbye to the red doors in the men’s showers! We also added new worktops and new taps.

AJ’s will be here all weekend for your breakfast and evening meals, meaning you won’t need to pack so much in your car, although you may need that extra space for wellie boots and coats!!
As you know we have been working on lots of new projects this winter, the one we have kept a complete surprise until now is this swimming pool, placed conveniently outside of the pods so that you can wake up and jump straight in.
We still have availability in our static caravan and pods for Easter weeks. Perfect for that unpredictable weather, you’ll stay warm and cosy and don’t have to take home a wet tent!
What a lovely first weekend of the season we’ve had, the weather wasn’t the best, however the response we have had over the new shop and @ajskitchen_woolacombe has been fantastic, and it has given me the confidence that the direction we have chosen to take the business is right.
Due to the predicted rain on Sunday we have decided to cancel our car boot sale, we’ll reschedule it for a few weeks time and make sure we book sunshine! Keep an eye on our socials for a new date.
We’ve been wanting to show you this for so long, we are so proud of what we’ve achieved, Tim and I have done this all by ourselves, knocking walls down, painting, building walls, levelling floors, electrics, everything.
We are really taking a gamble with this but I’m sure you guys are going to love having a bigger shop, there’s so much more choice, but if there’s anything you feel like we’re missing please do let us know.
WE ARE OPEN, camping season 2026 officially starts today, the weather is pants (of course it is) but it’s gonna be sunny tomorrow and Sunday, perfect for our Sunday car boot.
Plus we have a special discounted rate for this weekend.
Last night we had our staff meal out, we try to have a get together before the season starts and when the season ends, yes all 4 of us work together and are constantly talking to each other, but it’s always about work, it’s rarely us just sitting and chatting about life. Plus it’s a great excuse to get out of the work clothes and slap on some mascara.
So we went to what has become our first choice spot, @thesiambistro in Braunton, if you love Thai food, this is the restaurant to go to, food is always delicious, great gluten free selection and they do also do takeaway.
This Sunday, load up your car, your kids, your dog even your nanna, we are hosting our first car boot of the year. Ignore the poster it’s £5 a vehicle, you can bring a car, van, trailer. Sellers from 9am and buyers from 10am, our shop will be open for snacks and drinks and @ajskitchen_woolacombe will be open for breakfast baps.
