We had a lovely walk around Morte point yesterday, and we saw seals, 🦭 I love seeing these little chubby guys bobbing about in the sea. You can guarantee every time you walk around there you will see seals.
We also found a new path that we have never walked and got amazing views of Woolacombe.
If I’m in Barnstaple there is one place I go for food and that’s @charliescafe_barnstaple if you’ve seen my stories, you will already know that!
Charlie’s is 100% gluten free, all the cakes, bread, biscuits, are all made in their little kitchen they have a great range on their menu from full English breakfast to vegan pesto toasties, pancakes and their cakes, have I mentioned their cakes?! If you’re gluten free you will know how hard it is to find bread and cakes that don’t taste like cardboard and with every bite you need a slurp of water!! Or even find something on a menu that you can eat that is not a salad or chips! But not here, this little cafe is dedicated to all your gf needs, and you don’t need to worry about contamination.
If you’re in Barnstaple and need a quick lunch, sneaky treat then make sure you pop in, whether you’re gf or not, you honestly wouldn’t know it’s gf and the staff are amazing, so friendly and chatty. And if you do go remember me and bring me a cake!!! I’ll take any I’m not fussy!!!
Well I have lots of empty shelves to fill , but if you know me, I am quite capable of doing that!
Now to get everything else sorted, also it’s not just me doing this Tim has had his jobs to do and we have new wardens, who have been working so hard with getting the site ready, they have been chief cleaners, weeders, scrubbers and doing amazing!
Before we start the season we decided as a family to pack up our vans, dogs and kids and go away for an evening to spend some quality time together.
Tintagel is just an hour and 40 minutes from us and it truly is a magical place steeped in history and wildlife, we walked over to see King Arthur’s statue and on the way saw kestrels, seals, bunnies, buzzards and of course seagulls!!! We filled up on pasties and played hangman in the pub, so nice to get the kids off of their devices! We stopped at Bude on the way back to top up on pasties and have a nose at the lookout tower that they have moved further inland brick by brick!!
Tintagel is a place that mum loved so it was lovely to celebrate Mother’s Day there. I hope all you mums got spoilt yesterday, or at least had a day off from cooking!
Finally the fields have dried up enough to get the first cut done, it felt so good to get out and get it done but it was bittersweet because mum would normally be out with me doing this, I know she was watching and laughing every time we had to crawl underneath and unblock them, which was a lot!
We are on the look out for food vans for the season, last year we had a couple on site and they were super popular not just with our campers but also with the locals.
We are looking for someone who serves breakfast, things like baps, not pastries or smoothies we already have that covered, evening meals, happy to have burgers, pizzas, curries, any kind of food.
We do not charge you for being here but wouldn’t mind a meal every now and then!!
Also if there’s anyone with a drinks trailer, our campers are partial to a cocktail or 2!
27 days, just 27 days to go until we reopen!!! Hopefully the next 27 days will be much drier because right now it’s not tents and caravans you will be camping in, it will be dinghies and paddle boats!!!!
Unfortunately we lost my little Bella yesterday, Bella and her sister Poppy were a birthday present from Tim for my 30th! So she had reached the ripe age of 14, which is an amazing for a pig.
She was so full of character and would love a good back scratch and cuddle.
One of our frequently asked questions is, can you see the sea, no you can’t but you can hear it, we are just 3/4 of a mile from the beach.
But what we are surrounded by are fields, fields of green green grass!! You’ll see cows in the fields, sheep, deer in the distance, buzzards, kestrels, sparrow hawks and a billion stars. And if you’re really lucky you’ll see our barn owl!!! 🦉
Is it bad that I found another walk yesterday that I have never done!!! 30 years I’ve lived here and I’ve never walked this path!!!
I parked at Marine drive and walked along the esplanade towards Mortehoe and there’s a little footpath opposite the green above Combesgate and I kinda just followed the path to the left and then the signs to Seymour, it’s absolutely stunning up here and I can imagine on a clear blue sky day you could see for miles and it wouldn’t be as muddy!!!
Happy Valentine’s Day, look at that face, now if that’s not the look of love I don’t know what is!!!!
Who needs roses and chocolates when you have a face like that to smoosh!!!
Do people still celebrate valentines, do we need a specific day to show that special person we love them or should it just be normal to show love any day of the year?! We never celebrate Valentine’s Day, does that mean romance is dead, no, Tim will buy me flowers when I’m least expecting it, that feels more romantic than doing it because he’s being told to by adverts on TV!!!
Happy Pancake day, just an excuse to eat flat cake for breakfast!!!
What do you have on yours I will literally eat anything on pancakes but this morning I went for a healthier one this morning yogurt, fruit and maple syrup.
Oh and I cheated and bought @marksandspencerfood pancakes because they are the best gluten free ones!!!
